Ajay Devgn to Akshay Kumar, Celebs mourn the loss of Bappi Lahiri

Singer-Composer Bappi Lahiri left passes away on Wednesday at a CritiCare hospital in Mumbai. He was 69. The last rites will be performed on Thursday as the family is waiting for his son Bappa Lahiri to return from USA.

Dr Deepak Namjoshi, director of the hospital, told a news agency, “Lahiri had been admitted to the hospital for a month and was discharged on Monday. But his health deteriorated on Tuesday and his family called for a doctor to visit their home. He was brought to the hospital. He had multiple health issues. He died due to OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) shortly before midnight,”

After learning about Bappi Lahiri’s demise, several Bollywood celebs, took to social media and offered their condolences.

Ajay Devgn tweeted with a heavy heart, “Bappi Da was so endearing in person. But, his music had an edge. He introduced a more contemporary style to Hindi film music with Chalte Chalte, Suraksha & Disco Dancer Shanti dada you will be missed.”

Kajol paid an emotional tribute to Bappi Lahiri Bappi Lahiri. She wrote, “Today we lost the disco king, Bappi Da you were not only an amazing music composer and singer but also a beautiful and happy soul. End of an Era. May your soul rest in peace. #RIP #BappiLahiri.”

AR Rahman tweeted, “#RIPBappida… Bappi Lahiri, the Disco King of Hindi cinema!”

“Today we lost another gem from the music industry… Bappi Da, your voice was the reason for millions to dance, including me. Thank you for all the happiness you brought through your music. My heartfelt condolences to the family. Om Shanti,” Akshay Kumar tweeted.

Bhumi Pednekar shared a post on Instagram, “Complete Loss Of Words. Heartbroken by the demise of The legendary Bappi Lahiri Ji, Truly a big loss. My condolences to his family and fans. Your music will live on forever”.

Filmmaker Hansal Mehta also took to Twitter and wrote, “Another legend gone. #bappilahiri Had the good fortune of working closely with him when I shot an ad for p&g and then when I worked with White Feather Films for @_sanjaygupta. Man of incredible melody and talent.”

Actress Raveena Tandon wrote, “Grew up listening to your music, Bappi da, you had your own style and always a smiling face. Your music shall play on forever … Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti.”
