Sonu Sood has been capturing the headlines ever since the IT department conducted a raid at his office and residence. He has been accused of receiving funds from foreign countries and evasion of tax for Rs. 20 crores. In conversation with a leading daily, the actor has now stated that he is on a mission and his dreams are big. He also said how any organization that is helping the ones in need has to utilize the money in a span of a year.
Sonu Sood said, “Any foundation that receives funds has a time limit of one year to use the funds. If the funds don’t get utilized, you can extend it to another year. These are the rules. I listed this foundation only a few months ago, close to the second wave of COVID. Otherwise, during the first wave, when I started helping the migrants, I had people stepping forward who offered to book buses for the migrants. We weren’t collecting money then.”
Further speaking about starting the foundation just a few months back, Sood mentions as per rules, he still has 7 months to utilize the funds. He said, “I started collecting funds (for my foundation) only in the last four-five months. As per rules, I have over seven months more to use these funds. I am not going to waste people’s hard-earned money, and my hard-earned money.”
“I am saying the latter because 25 percent, to at times 100 percent of the remuneration I have charged for brand endorsements directly went to my foundation. I did endorsements free of cost if the brands donated money. So, the funds in the foundation are also my personal funds, which I donated,” adds the actor.
He also revealed that children break their piggy banks to donate money starting from Rs 600-800 and a blind woman extended her five months’ pension for the people in need.
Sonu Sood plans to open a hospital in Hyderabad. He mentions in the next 50 years, irrespective he is here or not, free treatment for people will be available at this charitable hospital. He said, “My dreams are big and I am on a mission.”
