Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty’s businessman husband Raj Kundra was arrested by Mumbai Police on July 19 as a key conspirator in a pornographic films racket. Since then, the couple is making the headlines and their problems have doubled lately after the court refused the bail to the businessman. Amid all this, filmmaker Hansal Mehta has come out in support of Shilpa Shetty in a series of tweets and asked everyone to leave her alone.
He tweeted, “If you cannot stand up for her at least leave Shilpa Shetty alone and let the law decide? Allow her some dignity and privacy. It is unfortunate that people in public life ultimately are left to fend for themselves and are proclaimed guilty even before justice is meted out.”
In another tweet, the filmmaker stated, “This silence is a pattern. In good times everybody parties together. In bad times there is deafening silence. There is isolation. No matter what the ultimate truth is, the damage is already done.”
“This vilification is a pattern. If the allegations are against a film person there is a rush to invade privacy, to pass sweeping judgment, to character-assassinate, to fill ‘news’ with trashy gossip – all at the cost of individuals and their dignity. This is the cost of silence,” Hansal Mehta added.
Meanwhile, the Mumbai police claimed that during the investigation, it was found Raj Kundra has set up Armsprime Media Pvt Ltd, through London-based Kenrin Pvt Ltd, which bought Hotshots app to upload porn videos on social media.
They had also alleged that Raj Kundra earned over Rs 1.17 crore between August and December lin 2020 by uploading objectionable videos online, through Hotshots. The police officials also claimed to have found a total of 51 obscene videos- out of which, 35 with Hotshots logo and 16 with BollyFame logo, during searches at the office of the accused.
