Queen is a Hindi comedy-drama film directed by Vikas Bahl and produced by Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, and Madhu Mantena that was released in 2014. Kangana Ranaut plays a major role, with Lisa Haydon and Rajkummar Rao providing supporting performances. The film tells the story of Rani Mehra, a shy Punjabi girl from New Delhi who goes on her honeymoon by herself to Paris and Amsterdam when her fiancé cancels their wedding.
Queen earned widespread critical acclaim, with critics hailing it as the best Indian film of 2014, praising its director, writing, and titular performance by Kangana Ranaut. The film grossed nearly Rupees 2.2 billion (US$29 million) worldwide on a budget of Rupees 105 million (US$1.4 million), making it a great commercial success.
Several accolades were given to the film. The film received six major honors at the 60th Filmfare Awards event, including Best Film, Best Director, and Best Actress for Ranaut. The film won Best Hindi Film and Best Actress at the 62nd National Film Awards ceremony.
Amit Trivedi wrote the film’s soundtrack, which includes lyrics by Anvita Dutt. On January 23, 2014, the album was released exclusively on iTunes, followed by a release on other streaming platforms on January 25, 2014. The Kala Ghoda Arts Festival in Mumbai hosted the physical release of the music CD on February 5, 2014.
