Rani Mukerji mourns the loss of Bappi Lahiri, says it’s a personal loss for our family

Bollywood’s Disco King Bappi Lahiri passed away at a hospital in Mumbai on Tuesday night after suffering from OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) disorder. He was 69. The legendary music composer-singer was admitted to Juhu’s CritiCare Hospital on Tuesday night after his health worsened.

Several celebrities in Bollywood have offered their condolences to the family. In a statement, actress Rani Mukerji said it is a personal loss for her family, and her mother Krishna is devastated.

In a statement, Rani Mukerji said “It’s a personal loss for our family, my mother is devastated. While the whole world mourns his loss, I can’t help but think of all the memories I have of him from my childhood, will miss him dearly. His smiling face and kind personality will always be a happy memory.”

“I pray that Chitrani Aunty, Rema, Bappa, and the entire Lahiri family find the strength to go through this loss. It’s too sad, he went too soon. Bappi uncle rest in peace, the heavens have earned an angel today,” the actress added.

Bappi Lahiri ruled the Indian music industry for several years and had crooned popular hits such as Raat Baaki, Humko Aaj Kal Hain Intezaar, I am a Disco Dancer, Bambai Se Aaya Mera Dost, Pag Ghoongroo, Yaar Bina Chain Kahan Re, Naino Main Sapna, TaakiTaaki, Tamma Tamma, Yaad Aa Raha Hai, among many others.

The iconic singer is survived by his wife Chitrani Lahiri and two children- son Bappa Lahiri and daughter Reema Lahiri. His cremation will take place on Thursday at around 10 AM.
