Shilpa Shetty Kundra has released her first official statement after the arrest of her husband Raj Kundra in alleged involvement in the porn video racket. The actress shared a statement on her Instagram handle presenting her stand and clearing out all rumors and accusations. In her post, she wrote that she had not given quotes to anyone on the issue and she would continue to refrain from talking about the issue.
Shilpa Shetty had also moved the Bombay High Court accusing a few media houses and social media platforms of publishing defamatory content about her. Now, she has released a statement today, August 2. In her statement, Shilpa Shetty said that she will continue to follow her philosophy ‘Never complain, never explain’ and will not comment on the porn video case.
Shilpa’s statement reads, “Yes! The past few days have been challenging, on every front. There have been a lot of rumors and accusations. A lot of unwarranted aspersions on me cast by the media and (not so) well-wishers as well. A lot of trolling/questions were posed not only to me but also to my family. MY STAND I HAVE NOT COMMENTED YET and will continue to refrain from doing so on this case as it is subjudice, so please stop attributing false quotes on my behalf.”
“Reiterating my philosophy of, as a celebrity “Never complain, never explain”. All I will say is, as it’s an ongoing investigation, I have full faith in the Mumbai Police & the Indian judiciary. As a family, we are taking recourse to all our available legal remedies. But, till then I humbly request you – especially as a MOTHER – to respect our privacy for my children’s sake and request you to refrain from commenting on half-baked information without verifying the veracity of the same,” she added.
Concluding her statement, the actress said, “I am a proud law-abiding Indian citizen and a hardworking professional for the last 29 years. People have put their faith in ME & I’ve never let anyone down. So, most importantly, I request you to respect my family’s and ‘my right’ to privacy in these times. We don’t deserve a media trial. Bollywood celebs came in support of Shilpa
Bollywood celebrities namely Richa Chadha and acclaimed filmmaker Hansal Mehta have spoken in support of Shilpa’s right to privacy and dignity. Richa Chadha wrote on Twitter, ‘glad she’s suing’. In response to Filmmaker Hansal Mehta’s tweet, the Fukrey actress wrote, “We’ve made a national sport out of blaming women for the mistakes of the men in their lives. Glad she’s suing.”
Hansal Mehta earlier tweeted, “If you cannot stand up for her at least leave Shilpa Shetty alone and let the law decide? Allow her some dignity and privacy. It is unfortunate that people in public life ultimately are left to fend for themselves and are proclaimed guilty even before justice is meted out.”
He further added, “This silence is a pattern. In good times everybody parties together. In bad times there is deafening silence. There is isolation. No matter what the ultimate truth the damage is already done.”
Shilpa Shetty’s businessmen husband, Raj Kundra was arrested by Mumbai police on July 19 as a key conspirator in connection with a case registered against him for the creation of pornographic content and publishing them through some paid mobile apps.
