Salman Khan, Chandni, Pran, and Danny Denzongpa star in the 1991 Hindi-language film Sanam Bewafa, which was directed and produced by Saawan Kumar Tak. Chandni made her Hindi film début opposite Salman Khan, a Bollywood superstar. According to reports, Chandani noticed an advertisement for a female lead in the film ‘Sanam Befawa’ while still in college, filled out the form, and was eventually cast as Salman’s heroine in the film.
It’s a remake of Haque Meher, a Pakistani film. The film is written by Bharat B. Bhalla, Anwar Khan, and produced by Saawan Kumar Tak.
The story follows two Pathan tribal families who have been warring for several generations. Sher Khan’s son Salman falls in love with Fateh Khan’s daughter Rukhsar. Mahesh Kishor composed the music, and Saawan Kumar wrote the lyrics himself. Lata Mangeshkar, Kavita Krishnamurthy, and Vipin Sachdeva are among the singers who contributed their voices.
The tunes were and sounded like they came from the 1970s. Popular songs were “Choori Maza Na Degi” and “O Hare Dupatte Wali.”
The film grossed ten crores and twenty million rupees in India, with a net profit of five crores and seventy million rupees. Danny Denzongpa received Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Awards.
