Mom is a 2017 Hindi-language crime thriller directed by Ravi Udyawar and based on a script by Girish Kohli. Sridevi plays a vigilante who vows to punish her stepdaughter after she is sexually abused at a party in the film.
In supporting roles, the film also features Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Akshaye Khanna, and Pakistani actors Sajal Ali and Adnan Siddiqui. A. R. Rahman scored and produced the soundtrack for the film. Sridevi made her 300th and final big cinema performance in this film before her demise on February 24, 2018.
The film was released in four languages on July 7, 2017, and was a critical and commercial success. At the 65th National Film Awards, the film won two awards: Best Actress for Sridevi, which was her first posthumous win in the category, and Best Background Score for A.R. Rahman.
The film garnered six nominations at the 63rd Filmfare Awards, including Best Actress and Best Actress (Critics) for Sridevi, and Best Supporting Actor for Siddiqui. The film has made Rupees 175 crore (US$23 million) at the box office globally, including Rupees 16.02 million (110.8 crores) in China.
In March 2016, the first act of the film was shot in New Delhi, near the Shri Ram College of Commerce at Delhi University and the Noida Film City. Mom was then filming in Mestia, Georgia, for a lengthy schedule. For over two months, the crew shot in negative seven-degree temperatures. Despite the difficult weather conditions, the schedule was completed successfully. In March 2017, filming continued, and the final phase of the film was finished in Bangkok.
