1920: The Evil Returns is a 2012 horror film directed by Bhushan Patel and written by Vikram Bhatt. The film is a quasi-sequel to the 2008 film 1920, the second installment of the 1920s trilogy (film series). Aftab Shivdasani, Tia Bajpai, Vidya Malvade, and Sharad Kelkar play the key characters in the film.
It is the first edition of the 1920 film series, which was a commercial success, and it is partly inspired by the 1973 horror picture The Exorcist. Chirantan Bhatt composed the film’s music, and Shakeel Azmi, Junaid Wasi, and Manoj Yadav wrote the lyrics.

The film was released on November 2, 2012, to mixed reviews, but performed better on its debut weekend at the box office (122.7 million Net.). 1920 – Evil Returns had a respectable opening weekend, grossing roughly 115 million Rupees (US$1.5 million). In the local market, it sold for Rupees 229 million (US$3.0 million). The movie was also dubbed into Telugu, under the name 1920 Gayathri.
Following the fair success of 1920 – Evil Returns, producer Vikram Bhatt decided to make a sequel. 1920 London was the title of the film’s sequel, which was released on May 6, 2016.
