Race was one of the year’s highest-earning Bollywood films, grossing a total of Rupees 103.45 crores worldwide on a budget of Rupees 46 crores. The 2008 Indian Hindi-language action thriller film was written by Kiran Kotrial and Shiraz Ahmed and directed by Abbas–Mustan. Tips Industries was in charge of the film’s production. Anil Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Bipasha Basu, Katrina Kaif, and Sameera Reddy feature in the key roles in the first episode of the Race film series.
The plot is based on the 1998 Hollywood film Goodbye Lover and deals with family rivalry, betrayal, and passion. Dalip Tahil and Johnny Lever are among the supporting cast members. Tips Music released the Race soundtrack on March 1, 2008. It featured 7 original songs, 9 remixes, and an instrumental theme, and was composed by Pritam with lyrics by Sameer.
This movie was filmed in Durban and Dubai… It opened globally on March 21, 2008, to overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics, who praised the film’s performances and music, despite mixed reactions to the storyline. It was titled Panthayam in Tamil and Race Telugu in Telugu, and it spawned two sequels: Race 2 in 2013 and Race 3 in 2018, the latter of which was a reboot.
