 Top movies in the Harry Potter series

Harry Potter is a film series based on J. K. Rowling’s namesake novels. Beginning with Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (2001) and ending with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 (2011), the series is distributed by Warner Bros. and comprises eight fantasy films.

The Wizarding World shared media franchise began with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016), which marked the start of a spin-off prequel series that will consist of five films.

David Heyman directed the series, which stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson as Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger, respectively. Chris Columbus, Alfonso Cuarón, Mike Newell, and David Yates were among the four filmmakers that worked on the series. The screenplay for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007) was written by Michael Goldenberg, whereas Steve Kloves wrote the screenplays for the other films. The major story arc followed Harry’s journey to defeat his arch-enemy, Lord Voldemort, over ten years.

J. K. Rowling, David Heyman, David Barron, David Yates, Alfonso Cuarón, Mike Newell, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson received the Michael Balcon Award for Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema for the series at the 64th British Academy Film Awards in February 2011.
