Robert John Downey Jr. is an actor and producer from the United States. His early career was marked by critical and popular success, followed by a period of substance misuse and legal issues, and then a revival of commercial success later in his career.
Iron Man is a superhero who appears in Marvel Comics’ American comic books. Stan Lee, a writer, and editor co-created the character, which was further developed by scripter Larry Lieber and drawn by painters Don Heck and Jack Kirby. The character initially appeared in Tales of Suspense #39 (March 1963 cover), then he was given his own title in Iron Man #1. (May 1968). Along with Thor, Ant-Man, Wasp, and the Hulk, the character established the Avengers in 1963. Anthony Edward ‘Tony’ Stark, a wealthy American business magnate, playboy, philanthropist, inventor, and brilliant scientist, is kidnapped and suffers a catastrophic chest injury. When his captors try to force him to build a weapon of mass destruction, he instead builds a mechanized suit of armor in order to preserve his life and flee captivity.
Stark later improves his suit by adding weaponry and other technological gadgets created by his company, Stark Industries. As Iron Man, he uses the suit and its various iterations to safeguard the globe. Stark finally reveals himself to be Iron Man, despite first disguising his true identity.
Robert Downey Jr. portrayed the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with cameo appearances in Iron Man (2008), The Incredible Hulk (2008), Iron Man 2 (2010), The Avengers (2012), Iron Man 3 (2013), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), Captain America: Civil War (2016), Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (2019). Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) featured the character as well.
