What is the age of Anupam Kher?

Anupam Kher is an Indian actor and the former Chairman of the Film and Television Institute of India. He was born on March 7, 1955. He has appeared in over 500 films, mostly in Hindi, as well as numerous plays. He has two National Film Awards and eight Filmfare Awards to his name. For his performance in Saaransh, he received the Filmfare Award for Best Actor (1984). He is 66 now.

He has five Filmfare Awards for Best Comedian: Ram Lakhan (1989), Lamhe (1991), Khel (1992), Darr (1993), and Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (1995). He got the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Vijay (1988). He has also acted in international films such as the Golden Globe-nominated Bend It Like Beckham (2002), Ang Lee’s Golden Lion-winning Lust, Caution (2007), and David O. Russell’s Oscar-nominated Silver Linings Playbook (2012).

He was nominated for a BAFTA for his supporting performance in the British sitcom The Boy With The Topknot (2018). In India, he has served as the chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification and the National School of Drama.

For his contributions to cinema and the arts, the Indian government awarded him the Padma Shri in 2004 and the Padma Bhushan in 2016. Anupam Kher was appointed chairman of the FTII in October 2017, although his appointment was criticized because of his pro-BJP stance and frequent absences.
