What is the story movie Chingaari?

Kalpana Lajmi directed Chingaari, a 2006 Indian Hindi drama film. The film is based on Bhupen Hazarika’s novel The Prostitute and the Postman. After Jallaad (1995), Elaan (2005 film), and Classic Dance of Love (2005), this was Mithun Chakraborty’s fourth negative portrayal.

Chingaari is a critique of power abuse, with a focus on the injustices perpetrated against priests in India. Underneath the main protagonists’ love triangle, there is an age-old story that demonstrates that even ‘holy men’ are not immune to power corruption.

It was later adapted in Tamil as Peyar Sandhya Thozil Dhasi Chingari, which was critically acclaimed but a box office disappointment. However, critics applauded Sushmita Sen and Mithun Chakraborty’s performances.
Basanti (Sushmita Sen) is a prostitute who works with Ila Arun and has a child named Titali. Chandan (Anuj Sawhney) is a new postman who has just been hired. He is struck by Basanti’s sufferings when he first arrives in the village. Bhuvan Panda (Mithun Chakraborty), the goddess Kali’s village priest, completes the love triangle.

He considers himself to be a deity and twists religion to his will. The priest in the film observes various aghori practices and is a regular customer of Basanti’s. Sadism is a fetish for Bhuvan Panda. Meanwhile, Chandan befriends Titali and Basanti, and it is during this time that Basanti reveals her desire for a better life for her daughter Titali.
