Which Hollywood movie features a bomb cyclone?

Dean Devlin directed, co-wrote, and co-produced Geostorm, a 2017 American science fiction catastrophe film (in his feature directorial debut). Gerard Butler, Jim Sturgess, Abbie Cornish, Ed Harris, and Andy Garcia feature in the film. It follows a satellite creator as he attempts to save the planet from a massive storm triggered by faulty climate-control satellites.

On October 20, 2014, principal photography began in New Orleans, Louisiana. Re-shoots began in December 2016 under the direction of executive producer Jerry Bruckheimer, writer Laeta Kalogridis, and new director Danny Cannon, following dismal test screenings. Skydance Media and Warner Bros. have collaborated on the picture for the first time.

Warner Bros. distributed the picture in 2D, Real D 3D, and IMAX 3D in the United States on October 20, 2017. Despite grossing $221 million worldwide, the film was deemed a box office flop due to its $120 million budget, which resulted in a $74 million loss for the studio. It also received largely negative reviews, with criticism focusing on the ‘uninspiring’ story and ‘lackluster’ visual effects.

Geostorm grossed $33.7 million in the United States and Canada, and $187.7 million in other markets, for a global total of $221.4 million on a $120 million production budget. To break even, the picture was predicted to need to gross $300-350 million globally.
