Ryan Thomas Gosling is a Canadian actor who was born on November 12, 1980. He began his career as a kid star on The Mickey Mouse Club (1993–1995) on the Disney Channel, and went on to star in various family entertainment shows such as Are You Afraid of the Dark? (1995) and Goosebumps (1996).

His debut film appearance was as a Jewish neo-Nazi in The Believer (2001), and he went on to star in Murder by Numbers (2002), The Slaughter Rule (2002), and The United States of Leland (2003), among others.

The Believer is a drama film directed by Henry Bean and written by Bean and Mark Jacobson that was released in 2001. Ryan Gosling plays Daniel Balint, a Jew who transforms into a neo-Nazi. The movie is based on the true-life of Dan Burros, a member of the American Nazi Party and the United Klans of America’s New York branch. After a New York Times report revealed that he was Jewish, he committed suicide. The film received the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival in 2001, as well as the Golden St. George at the 23rd Moscow International Film Festival.
