Which is the first movie of the Resident Evil film series?

Paul W. S. Anderson wrote and directed Resident Evil, a 2002 action horror film. Milla Jovovich, Michelle Rodriguez, Eric Mabius, James Purefoy, Martin Crewes, and Colin Salmon co-star in the film. It is the first film of the Resident Evil film franchise, which is loosely based on the same-named video game series.

The film follows amnesiac heroine Alice and a crew of Umbrella Corporation commandos as they seek to contain an outbreak of the T-virus at a secret underground facility, borrowing aspects from the computer games Resident Evil and Resident Evil 2. Despite receiving terrible reviews from critics, the picture grossed $102 million worldwide on a $33 million production budget.

Half of the picture was set to be shot in Adlershof Studios in Berlin and its environs in early March 2001. On March 5, 2001, principal photography began at a number of sites, including the Berlin U-then-unfinished Bahn’s station U-Bahnhof Bundestag, Landsberger Allee, Kaserne Krampnitz, and the Schloss Linstedt.

Marco Beltrami and Marilyn Manson composed the film’s score and soundtrack in mid-2001. The music and soundtrack, according to Manson, are more ‘electronic’ than his prior work. Apocalypse (2004), Extinction (2007), Afterlife (2010), Retribution (2012), and The Final Chapter (2016) are the five sequels of the film.
