The Little Mermaid is a forthcoming American musical fantasy film directed by Rob Marshall and based on a screenplay by Jane Goldman and David Magee. It’s a live-action remake of the 1989 animated picture of the same name, which is partially based on Hans Christian Andersen’s tale with the same name.

Lin-Manuel Miranda, a fan of the original film, will co-produce the film alongside Marc Platt, it was announced on August 16, 2016. Miranda announced on February 10, 2020, that the film’s rehearsals had already begun.
