How many movies does Superman have?

Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster’s fictitious superhero Superman has appeared in 11 live-action movies. Superman (1948), Atom Man vs. Superman (1950), and Superman and the Mole Men (1951) were his first three serials (1951). Richard Donner, Richard Lester, and Sidney J. Adams directed four movies. Superman is a key character in the DC Animated Universe, with many actors portraying him. Although he is still a difficult character to defeat, he is depicted as much weaker than he is in the comics.

Superman (1978), Superman II (1980), Superman III (1983), and Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987), all starring Christopher Reeve, featured two spin-offs: Supergirl (1984) and Steel (1997).

For years, there were various attempts to revive the brand, the most notable of which starred Nicolas Cage in Tim Burton’s Superman Lives. Other filmmakers, such as McG and Brett Ratner, attempted to launch a new film.

Superman Returns, starring Brandon Routh, was released in 2006 as a modern remake (2006). Dr. George Miller’s Justice League: Mortal, in which D.J. Cotrona was cast, was canceled just before filming was scheduled to begin. It was revived in 2013 with Man of Steel (2013), starring Henry Cavill, and two sequels, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and Justice League (2016). (2017). There are presently no plans for a solo Superman feature; only crossovers and team-up films are in the works.
