Is Mulan film series based on a true story?

Mulan is based on a fictional story in both the 1998 and 2020 versions. Mulan is not based on a true story. Despite this, Mulan has some fascinating backstory. It is a Walt Disney Pictures fantasy action drama movie released in 2020. It is directed by Niki Caro from a screenplay by Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, Lauren Hynek, and Elizabeth Martin.

In addition to Yifei Liu, the picture features Donnie Yen, Tzi Ma, Jason Scott Lee, Yoson An, Ron Yuan, Gong Li, and Jet Li in supporting parts. Hua Mulan, the eldest daughter of a respected warrior, disguises herself as a man to replace her sick father during universal conscription to combat the Rouran army in China’s History.

However, because of the pandemic’s overall limited theatre release, the picture only made just about $70 million against a production budget of $200 million. Western critics gave the picture mostly positive reviews, praising the action sequences, costuming, and acting, but criticizing the narrative and editing.
