What is the number 1 Disney movie?

If Wall Street traders had their own magic genie lamp, they might wish for more films like ‘Aladdin‘ from Walt Disney Company DIS, -0.23 percent. In a MarketWatch assessment of the 38 animated films created by Walt Disney Animation Studios in the last 50 years, that film comes in first.

The movies were graded based on how Disney stock performed in comparison to the S& P 500 SPX from the day before each film’s theatrical release to seven days after it. According to data provided by Box Office Mojo, the ranking of share performance was then averaged against the film’s domestic gross box-office sales, adjusted for inflation. Other studios’ animated films were not included in the ranking, such as Pixar Animation Studios, Tim Burton, and DisneyToon Studios.

Following the premiere of ‘Aladdin,’ Disney stock climbed approximately 4% more, the 7th best performance among the 38 films examined. It ranked No. 3 in box office sales with $449.96 million, which was enough to propel it to No. 1 overall. According to ComScore analyst Paul Dergarabedian, movies, like the stock market, have a tendency to hold emotional links over individuals. “Animated films are such a high-profile part of Disney’s DNA,” Dergarabedian said. Because box office data wasn’t available, we didn’t include ‘The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh’ (1977) and ‘Robin Hood’ (1973), two Disney classics, in our final ranking.
