Which Hollywood actor is from Chelsea Michigan?

Jeffrey Warren Daniels, an American actor, singer, and dramatist, was born on February 19, 1955. The actor was born in Athens, Georgia, but grew up in Chelsea, Michigan. He has received several awards for his performances in television, cinema, and different stage shows, including two Primetime Emmy Awards, as well as nominations for three Tony Awards, five Screen Actors Guild Awards, and five Golden Globe Awards.

In the 1980s and 1990s, he appeared in James L. Brooks’ Terms of Endearment (1983), Woody Allen’s The Purple Rose of Cairo (1985), Mike Nichols’ Heartburn (1986), as well as the war epic Gettysburg (1993) and the action thriller Speed (1994). He rose to fame after starring alongside Jim Carrey in the comedy Dumb and Dumber (1994).

Daniels appeared as Will McAvoy in the HBO political drama series The Newsroom from 2012 to 2014, for which he got Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations and won the 2013 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

In 2018, he received a second Primetime Emmy Award for his supporting role in the Netflix miniseries Godless (2017), as well as another nomination for his main role in the Hulu miniseries The Looming Tower (2018). He portrayed FBI Director James Comey in Showtime’s The Comey Rule in 2020.

Daniels has also been nominated for a Tony Award for Best Actor for his appearances in Yasmina Reza’s God of Carnage, David Harrower’s Blackbird, and Aaron Sorkin’s To Kill a Mockingbird on stage. He is the founder and current executive director of the Purple Rose Theatre Company in Chelsea, Michigan.
