Renowned choreographer Bosco Martis has spoken up about the ongoing discussion around credit and recognition for choreographers, particularly in the context of viral hits like “Choli Ke Peeche” (Choli) from Ulajh, popularly known by fans as “Chutte Malle”.
In a recent interview, Bosco clarified that the conversation was never intended to target Janhvi Kapoor, who performed the dance with remarkable dedication. “It’s being sensationalized. It’s not about Janhvi — she worked incredibly hard, and I remember her shivering after coming out of the cold water during the shoot,” he recalled, appreciating her commitment to the performance.
However, Bosco emphasized the need for greater acknowledgment of choreographers, especially when songs go viral. “Whenever you’re called on a show or a platform to discuss such a hit, you should know the choreographer’s name,” he said, pointing to the pattern of credit often going unnoticed. He added that if anyone credits him for Chutte Malle, he would instead highlight Janhvi’s performance.
Bosco also mentioned other recent dance hits like “Tauba Tauba”, echoing the broader issue: that even in promotional content or behind-the-scenes footage, the names of choreographers and their teams are rarely mentioned.
Taking a stand, Bosco stressed that the conversation is not about individual recognition but about ensuring that the dance community receives the credit it deserves for shaping the visual identity of today’s most iconic songs.
