Stree Actor Rajkummar Rao was granted bail after surrendering before a Jalandhar court in connection with a case linked to the 2017 film Behen Hogi Teri. The case pertains to allegations of hurting religious sentiments through a promotional poster for the film.
The controversial poster, which featured Rao dressed as Lord Shiva riding a motorcycle, had sparked backlash and led to a complaint filed under sections related to religious offense. Acting on the summons issued earlier, the actor appeared before the court and was granted bail after furnishing the required surety.
Behen Hogi Teri, a romantic comedy co-starring Shruti Haasan, was released in 2017 and had faced criticism from certain religious groups at the time for its promotional imagery.
