The film is mostly about the love and affection shared between brothers, as well as the importance of family togetherness. Later, the producers approached Rishi Kapoor about reprising Anand’s part, but he declined, as did Nitish Bhardwaj when offered, and Mahesh Thakur was cast. The film was released on November 5, 1999, and became one of the year’s biggest commercial blockbusters, grossing Rupees 810 million (US$11 million) worldwide.
