Sivaji Ganesan, born as V. Chinnaiya Manrayar Ganesamoorthy on October 1, 1928, is known as Marlon Brando of Indian cinema. He was one of the most successful performers in the Tamil film business in the late twentieth century. Ganesan appeared in a number of theatre productions before making his Tamil film debut in Parasacty, which was released in 1952. After joining the San Gil Yandaplan ensemble at the age of ten, he began working on stage.
Ganesan has appeared in approximately 300 films in several languages, including Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada, throughout the course of his nearly 50-year cinema career. Before his death on July 21, 2001, Ganesan was last seen as a supporting character in the 1999 film Poporika Varugirom.
Ganesan earned the moniker “Shivaji” after portraying Chatrapati Shivaji in the Shivaji Kanda Hindu Jam drama. EV Rama Sammy, a social reformer, gave him this moniker. Ganesan was a trained dancer in Bharatanatyam, Kathak, and Manipuri, among other classical dance styles. As an Indian cultural ambassador, Ganesan was the first Indian artist to visit the United States in 1962. At the invitation of then-US President John F. Kennedy, he traveled there.
From the beginning, Ganesan was involved in politics. Ganesan finally brought his party, Tamiza Gamnet Tramnani, to light in 1988, after uniting with a number of political groups. In the Tamil Nadu parliamentary elections, his party ran for 50 seats but came up short. Former Vice President Shin appointed Ganesan as president of the Tamil Nadu Wing of Jantadal in 1989. Unlike his great cinema career, Ganesan had a memorable political career.
