The movie is based on the true-life of Dan Burros, a member of the American Nazi Party and the United Klans of America’s New York branch. After a New York Times report revealed that he was Jewish, he committed suicide. The film received the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival in 2001, as well as the Golden St. George at the 23rd Moscow International Film Festival.
