Christopher Nolan co-wrote, directed, and produced Interstellar, a 2014 epic science fiction film. The film depicts a crew of astronauts who journey through a wormhole near Saturn in quest of a new home for humankind in a bleak future where civilization is battling to live.

The screenplay was written by brothers Christopher and Jonathan Nolan, and it was based on a script Jonathan wrote in 2007. Interstellar was co-produced by Christopher Nolan and his wife, Emma Thomas, through their firm Syncopy, and Lynda Obst through Lynda Obst Productions.

On October 26, 2014, the film Interstellar premiered in Los Angeles, California. It was first shown on film stock in the United States before being expanded to places with digital projectors. The film grossed more than $677 million worldwide, making it the tenth highest-grossing picture of 2014.

The screenplay, directing, themes, visual effects, musical soundtrack, acting, and ambition of Interstellar all got great reviews. The film won Best Visual Effects at the 87th Academy Awards and was nominated for Best Original Score, Best Sound Mixing, Best Sound Editing, and Best Production Design.
