Following the BAFTA win for Best Children’s & Family Film, Lakshmipriya Devi, director of Boong, delivered a deeply moving acceptance speech highlighting the ongoing unrest in Manipur and appealing for peace and hope. Using the global platform to amplify the voices of those affected, she underscored the urgent need for compassion and reconciliation in her home state.
The award was presented at the British Academy Film Awards ceremony held at Royal Festival Hall, located within Southbank Centre. Backed by Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment, the film explores complex social dynamics along the Manipur border and was recognised for its emotionally resonant storytelling and its representation of Indian cinema on the global stage.
