In a significant development in the legal battle between Kangana Ranaut and veteran lyricist-screenwriter Javed Akhtar, the Bandra Court has received an official document from the actor and Member of Parliament, wherein she has unconditionally withdrawn her past statements.
According to court records accessed by Mid-Day, Ranaut stated in her suit for withdrawal of the case, “I hereby unconditionally withdraw all the statements made by me in the interview dated 19.07.2020 and thereafter, and I undertake not to repeat the same in the future.”
Following her apology, Akhtar accepted her statement and agreed to withdraw his complaint. This marks the conclusion of the defamation case that has been ongoing since 2020, after Akhtar filed a suit against Ranaut over her remarks in a media interview.
