A few years ago, I found K-pop and fell in love with this great, inviting community. But it didn’t take long for me to realize that K-pop stars are extremely private people who avoid talking about their personal lives. It wasn’t about privacy at all, I quickly realized; it was about appeasing fans and preserving the ‘boyfriend/girlfriend’ persona toward them.
I’m all for privacy, but I quickly realized that portraying an idol as your ideal type’ might be risky, especially in fandom with so many young and impressionable fans.
‘Lizkook,’ aka BLACKPINK’s maknae Lisa and BTS’ maknae Jungkook, was one of the first K-pop sensations I encountered. I discovered a plethora of fan videos as well as speculations about their personal lives. On Instagram and YouTube, I had a lot of ships,’ ‘theories,’ and ‘interactions’ between them. The edits are so amazing and terrifyingly realistic-looking that a non-fan may mistake them for the real thing!
I wanted to discover more about this popular Korean pop duo, and here’s why fans think Lizkook is the real deal:
