Kangana Ranaut slams Bollywood for not appreciating Thalaivii

Kangana Ranaut starrer Thalaivii has largely been receiving warmly by film critics and audiences. Now the biopic film is streaming on Netflix, the actress has penned a gratitude note for her team. Taking to Instagram stories, she wrote, “Rarely a film loved passionately and unanimously… And Thalaivii is one such film… I am glad people getting to know Purchai Thalaivi Dr J. Jayalalithaa’s story. also big thanks to my team for making a film which is a shining diamond in my filmography. #gratitude.”

Thalaivii is based on the life of a former actress and Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu J Jayalalithaa. The film stars Kangana as Jayalalithaa and South star Arvind Swami as M. G. Ramachandran. The film explores the former’s rise as an actor and a politician and the relationship between Jayalalithaa and MGR.

However, now the film is also streaming on Netflix, it will reach a wider audience. Even as the movie was released earlier in theatres in several parts of the country, it did not see a theatrical release in Mumbai. Now, Kangana, who often targets Bollywood has urged the Hindi film fraternity to show support by appreciating her film.

The actress wrote, “Meanwhile waiting for Bollywood Mafia to keep our political and ideological differences aside just how I don’t find it difficult to appreciate genuine art maybe they can also rise above petty human emotions and for once let art win #Thalaivii.”

The film also features Bhagyashree, Jisshu Sengupta, Raj Arjun, Nassar, Madhoo, Thambi Ramaiah, Samuthirakani, and Shamna Kasim in supporting roles. Thalaivii is helmed by A. L. Vijay and written by K. V. Vijayendra Prasad, Madhan Karky (Tamil), and Rajat Arora (Hindi).

Meanwhile, on the work front, Kangana has wrapped up ‘Tejas’ where she essays an Indian Air Force pilot. She will also be seen in Razneesh Ghai’s Dhaakad co-starring Arjun Rampal in the lead. Kangana also has Emergency, based on former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and The Incarnation- SITA, where she will portray the titular role.
