Thiagarajan directed and produced Shock, a supernatural horror film in Tamil that was released in 2004. Prashanth and Meena star in the film, which also features Abbas, Thiagarajan, Suhasini, Kalairani, and Sarath Babu in supporting parts.
Salim–Sulaiman is the composer of the music. The film was released on July 23, 2004, and was a remake of Ram Gopal Varma’s Hindi blockbuster Bhoot (2003). The critical reception to the film was overwhelmingly good. At the box office, Shock was a hit.
Vasanth (Prashanth), a stock analyst, and his wife Malini are the central characters in the film (Meena). The two are looking for a place to live in Chennai. On the 12th level of a high-rise residential complex, Vasanth finds the ideal location.
The apartment, on the other hand, has a dreadful history. Manju (Meena), the former occupant of the flat, murdered her child and then committed herself by jumping from the balcony. When Malini hears about the incident, she gets strangely obsessed with it.
Then a series of bizarre events drives her to the brink of crazy. Vasanth is convinced that she has developed some kind of mental illness. He meets Dr. Rajan (Sarath Babu), a psychiatrist, and begins to question that his wife is suffering from a mental illness. Kalairani, the couple’s maid, believes Malini is possessed and hires an exorcist (Suhasini).
Ajay is sentenced to prison, and Parmasivan tells him that he will rot in a jail cell for the rest of his life. Ajay comes face to face with Manju when Paramasivan leaves the jail. As she gets closer, he begins pleading for compassion, but his voice fades out, implying that she murders him.
Asin, Khushbu, Ramya Krishnan, Raghuvaran, and Pasupathy were all mentioned in an early press release, however, none of them ended up appearing in the film. Kanika and Sujatha were also expected to appear in the film but were not included in the final cast. Abbas was cast as a negative part, while K. R. Vijaya, Suhasini, and Sarath Babu were cast as supporting characters.
