The film was scheduled to be released in June 2020, but production was halted because of the COVID-19 outbreak in India. In India, the film was released in theatres on March 11, 2021. Roohi is a Hindi-language comedic horror film directed by Hardik Mehta and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films Brands. The film is the sequel to Dinesh Vijan’s horror comedy universe, which began with Stree (2018) and continued with Bhediya (2022).

It’s about a ghost that kidnaps newlyweds on their honeymoons. Rajkummar Rao, Janhvi Kapoor, and Varun Sharma appear in the film. It was announced on March 29, 2019, and filming began on June 14, 2019, in Agra.

The film’s confusing plot earned mainly poor reviews from critics. It has been named one of the worst Hindi films of 2021 by certain sources. Janhvi Kapoor was not even close to Shraddha Kapoor’s degree of excellence, according to the majority of the audience ( who was the lead in the first film of the franchise, Stree).

The film’s title was changed to Roohi from Roohi Afzana on February 15, 2021, and it was released in India on March 11, 2021. On April 8, the film was launched on JioCinema, and the following day, it was distributed on Netflix.
