The fourth installment of ‘The Chronicles of Narnia‘ will be released. The Chronicles of Narnia franchise is finally being revived with an adaptation of the fourth book, six years after the last installment, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
Although children of the 2000s may have grown up with the three live-action films released between 2005 and 2008, and anyone of any generation may have read C.S. Lewis’ legendary novels as a child, a new adaptation of The Chronicles of Narnia is on the way. Netflix bought the rights to adapt the seven fantasy tales in 2018 and announced intentions to create new TV shows and films based on the world of Narnia right away.
So, what have we learned since then about the company’s plans for the franchise? To be honest, not much, as it appears like the streaming behemoth is taking its time building up a large shared universe before launching anything. The most recent update came in June 2019, when Matthew Aldrich, co-writer of Coco, was named architect and project overseer. Narnia aficionados, on the other hand, have analyzed the facts and come up with some intriguing speculations about what Netflix might do.
The preceding film franchise adapted The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Prince Caspian, and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader in order of publication. The Silver Chair, a fourth film that was never made, would have followed suit. Netflix’s natural course of action would thus be to follow the chronological order. The Magician’s Nephew, which chronicles the creation of Narnia, would be the first book to be adapted.
