What is the story of the film Aashiq (2001)?

Indra Kumar directed Aashiq, a 2001 Indian Hindi action romance film. In the key roles are Bobby Deol and Karisma Kapoor. The film is a remake of the Telugu film Gulabi. Aashiq No. 1 was the original title of the film. Pooja’s role was considered for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Urmila Matondkar.

The film had its world debut in Mumbai on January 26, 2001. Box Office India rated Aashiq as ‘Average.’ On the phone, Pooja and Chander Kapoor shared a heartfelt talk. When they eventually meet and everything is revealed, they fall in love. Chander lives with his advocate father Dilip Dev Kapoor, while Pooja lives in a wealthy but stressful family with her alcoholic father, her Dai Maa, and a self-senile mother.

Pooja’s parents, unfortunately, want her to marry someone of their choosing, which throws Chander against them. Pooja goes missing one day, and the police, led by a belligerent inspector Mathur, arrest Chander for kidnapping her, much to his surprise. Then Chander gets away from the cops and goes on a manhunt for Pooja. This movie was completed with a budget of Rupees 9 Crore and it earned Rupees 81.68 Crore to date.
