Jersey is a forthcoming Hindi-language sports drama film written and directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, which is a remake of his Telugu film of the same name from 2019. Shahid Kapoor, Mrunal Thakur, and Pankaj Kapur star as cricketers in the film. Allu Aravind, Aman Gill, Dil Raju, and Suryadevara Naga Vamsi are producing the film.
The film’s official announcement was made in October 2019, and principal photography began on December 13 in Chandigarh. It was supposed to be released in theatres on August 28, 2020, but the COVID-19 epidemic forced a postponement.
The film was completed on December 14, 2020. The film will be released in theatres on December 31, 2021, to coincide with the New Year. The film follows a 36-year-old cricketer who retired from the game ten years ago and is now attempting to play for the Indian team.
Soon after the Telugu film Jersey (2019) was released in theatres, fans began speculating about a remake. Later reports said that Shahid Kapoor had been cast as the male protagonist, with Shraddha Kapoor being considered for the female part.
Rashmika Mandanna, a Kannada actress, will make her Hindi film debut with the project, which was confirmed in August 2019. On October 14 of the same year, an official statement was made, confirming the entire cast and crew.
