When was Shahrukh Khan’s Don got released?

Don: The Chase Begins Again, often known as Don, is a Hindi-language action thriller film directed by Farhan Akhtar that was released in 2006. Ritesh Sidhwani and Akhtar’s production company Excel Entertainment co-produced the film.

Shahrukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra were featured as Don and Roma, respectively, in the film, with Khan playing the eponymous role. In supporting roles, Arjun Rampal, Isha Koppikar, Boman Irani, Pavan Malhotra, Rajesh Khattar, Om Puri, and Kareena Kapoor appear.

The film is a remake of the 1978 film of the same name, and it follows the eponymous criminal’s lookalike who is sent on a secret mission to mimic Don after he is wounded in a chase and infiltrates the drug mafia’s plans. The film was released on October 20, 2006, during the Diwali festive season, clashing with Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Preity Zinta’s Jaan-E-Mann. Critics mainly praised Khan and Chopra’s performances, as well as the action sequences, soundtrack, production design, and cinematography.

The film was a great economic success, collecting over Rupees 1.06 billion at the box office on a $400 million production and marketing budget, making it the fifth highest-grossing Indian film of 2006. At the Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival, Don was named Best Asian Film. At the 52nd Filmfare Awards, the film garnered nine nominations, including Best Film and Best Actor for Khan. Don 2 was released on 13 December 2011.
