Timothée Hal Chalamet, also known as Timothee Chalamet, is an American actor who was born on December 27, 1995. He has been nominated for one Academy Award, three BAFTA Film Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, four Screen Actors Guild Awards, and four Critics’ Choice Movie Awards during the course of his career.
Chalamet’s breakthrough performance came in the movie Call Me By Your Name. It’s still his strongest performance, and he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor for it. Luca Guadagnino directed Call Me by Your Name, a 2017 coming-of-age romantic drama movie. Its script, written by James Ivory, who also co-produced the film, is based on André Aciman’s eponymous novel from 2007. After I Am Love (2009) and A Bigger Splash (2012), Guadagnino’s thematic ‘Desire’ trilogy comes to a close with this movie.
Set in northern Italy in 1983, Call Me by Your Name follows Elio Perlman (Timothée Chalamet), a 17-year-old, and Oliver (Armie Hammer), a 24-year-old doctoral student assistant to Elio’s father Samuel (Michael Stuhlbarg), an archaeological professor. Amira Casar, Esther Garrel, and Victoire Du Bois also star in the movie.
Call Me by Your Name was acquired by Sony Pictures Classics before its presentation at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival on January 22, 2017. On November 24, 2017, the movie had a limited release in the United States, and on January 19, 2018, it was released to the full public. It earned a lot of praise from critics, especially for Ivory’s writing, Guadagnino’s direction, and Chalamet, Hammer, and Stuhlbarg’s performances.
Many awards were given to the picture, including those for its writing, director, acting, and soundtrack. At the 90th Academy Awards, it got four nominations, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Chalamet (the third-youngest candidate in the category), as well as Best Adapted Screenplay. The screenplay also won at the 2017 Writers Guild of America Awards, the 23rd Critics’ Choice Awards, and the 71st British Academy Film Awards.
