Manoj Nelliyattu “M. Night” Shyamalan, an Indian-American director, and actor was born on August 6, 1970. He’s most known for creating unique films with current spooky themes and surprising endings. He was born in the Indian state of Mahé and was raised in the Pennsylvania town of Penn Valley. His movies have grossed more than $3.3 billion worldwide.
In 1992, he made his directorial debut with the film Praying with Anger. Wide Awake, a comedy-drama, was his second feature (1998). The supernatural thriller The Sixth Sense (1999), the comic book thriller Unbreakable (2000), the science fiction thriller Signs (2002), and the period-piece thriller The Village (2004) are among his best-known movies.
Following the commercial disaster of After Earth, Shyamalan’s career was resurrected with the releases of The Visit (2015), Split (2016), and Glass, a comic book thriller (2019). With a combined budget of $34 million, these three pictures grossed $625 million at the box office.
The third and final installment of his Unbreakable film trilogy, which began in 2000, is Glass. His most recent feature picture was the supernatural thriller Old, which grossed $90 million on an $18 million budget in 2021.
Shyamalan is also known for filming and setting his movies in and around Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as well as Reading, Pennsylvania, which is close by. The Touchstone and Hollywood Pictures and Universal imprints of Walt Disney Studios co-produced and released the majority of his commercially great movies. The Indian government honored Shyamalan with the Padma Shri award in 2008.
