Transformers is an American science fiction action movie series that began in the 1980s and is based on the Transformers property. Transformers (2007), Revenge of the Fallen (2009), Dark of the Moon (2011), Age of Extinction (2014), and The Last Knight (2015) are the first five films directed by Michael Bay (2017).
On December 21, 2018, Bay produced Bumblebee, a spin-off movie directed by Travis Knight. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, a sequel to Bumblebee, will be released in 2023 and directed by Steven Caple Jr.
Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks Pictures are responsible for the distribution of the series. Except for Bumblebee, which garnered excellent reviews, the original Transformers film series received a negative to mixed response. With a total of $4.8 billion, it is the 13th highest-earning film series, with two features grossing over $1 billion each.
