Leonardo DiCaprio is most recognized as an environmentalist for co-writing, producing, and narrating the global warming film “The 11th Hour.” Long after the movie ended, his Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation continued to advocate for several environmental and humanitarian causes, including forest preservation, healthy oceans, clean water access, and renewable energy.

DiCaprio sits on the boards of the Natural Resources Defense Council, Global Green USA, World Wildlife Fund, and the International Fund for Animal Welfare, among others. In addition to the significant gifts he’s made throughout the years, the celebrity actor has decided to forego private aircraft in favor of a Prius.

Leonardo Wilhelm DiCaprio, an American actor and film producer, was born on November 11, 1974. DiCaprio has garnered multiple awards for his efforts in biopics and period films, including an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and three Golden Globe Awards. His films have made over $7.2 billion worldwide as of 2019, and he has been ranked eighth in annual lists of the world’s highest-paid actors eight times.

In one episode of Roseanne in 1991, DiCaprio had an uncredited role. Later that year, he made his cinematic debut in the low-budget horror direct-to-video picture Critters 3 as the stepson of an evil landlord, a role he described as ‘your ordinary, no-depth, standard child with blond hair.’ DiCaprio would rather forget Critters 3, which he characterizes as ‘probably one of the worst films of all time'” citing it as an example of what not to do in the future.
