Some renowned lesbians came out in public addresses, while others simply went about their daily lives, unfazed by the revelation. Famous lesbian actresses include Jodie Foster and Sarah Paulson, to name a few.
During a speech at the 2013 Golden Globe Awards, Jodie Foster came out publicly. “I’ve had a sudden impulse to speak something that I’ve never been able to broadcast in public,” she joked, before revealing that she had already come out to “trusted friends and family” years before.
Alicia Christian “Jodie” Foster, an American actress, director, and producer, was born on November 19, 1962. She has received numerous awards, including two Academy Awards, three British Academy Film Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, and the honorary Cecil B. DeMille Award. She is regarded as one of the best actors of her generation.

Foster began her career as a child model at the age of three and made her acting debut in the television series Mayberry R.F.D. in 1968. She appeared in various television series and made her film debut in Disney’s Napoleon and Samantha (1972) in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
Foster struggled to move into adult roles after graduating from Yale University until she received critical acclaim for her part as a rape survivor in the legal thriller The Accused (1988), for which she won the Academy Award for Best Actress. Three years later, she received her second Academy Award for her role as FBI agent Clarice Starling in the psychological horror-thriller The Silence of the Lambs (1991).
For “Lesbian Request Denied,” the third episode of the former, she won her first Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series. Foster also starred in Carnage (2011), Elysium (2013), Hotel Artemis (2018), and The Mauritanian (2021), the latter of which earned her her third Golden Globe nomination in a competitive category.
