Gauri Shinde wrote and directed Dear Zindagi, a 2016 Indian Hindi-language coming-of-age drama movie. Gauri Khan, Karan Johar, and Shinde produced it under their respective labels of Red Chillies Entertainment, Dharma Productions, and Hope Productions.
Alia Bhatt starred in the movie, which also stars Ira Dubey, Kunal Kapoor, Angad Bedi, Ali Zafar, Yashaswini Dayama, and Rohit Suresh Saraf. Dr. Jehangir Khan, played by Shah Rukh Khan, has an extensive cameo appearance in the film. The story revolves around a budding cinematographer who is unhappy with her life and meets a free-spirited psychologist who helps her obtain a new perspective.
The movie’s development began in 2015 when Shinde contracted Bhatt and Khan to produce a film under her brand. From 21 January to 20 May 2016, principal photography took held in Goa and Mumbai. Amit Trivedi composed the film’s score, and Kausar Munir wrote the majority of the lyrics.
Dear Zindagi was released in North America on November 23, 2016, two days before it was released internationally on November 25, 2016, to generally positive reviews, with a specific appreciation for the screenplay, dialogues, themes, director, soundtrack, and performances. At the box office, the picture earned $1.39 billion (US$18 million). It was nominated for a lot of awards in the Bollywood industry.
