How is the Israeli film, Noodle?

Noodle, a 2007 Israeli film directed by Ayelet Menahemi and written by Shemi Zarhin and Ayelet Menahemi, stars Mili Avital, Chen Baoqi, and Alon Aboutboul.

When a Chinese woman working in Israel for Israeli flight attendant Miri Kalderon is deported for overstaying her work visa, she struggles to convince Israeli authorities that she was accompanied by a young child due to her lack of Hebrew language abilities.

Miri, who has lost two family members in the ongoing Arab-Israeli conflict, has been going through the motions of life, apparently disconnected from existence itself. Miri benefits in unexpected ways from her decision to support the boy, dubbed ‘Noodle,’ in reuniting with his mother, who has returned to Beijing.

The film received the Best Supporting Actress Award from the Israeli Film Academy (Ophir Awards) as well as the Special Grand Jury Prize at the 2007 Montreal World Film Festival.
