Robert B. Parker’s Jesse Stone is the protagonist in a series of detective books. They were among his final compositions, as well as the first in which he used a third-person narrative. Nine TV movies have been made based on the novels. CBS commissioned the first eight films, which aired from 2005 to 2012. The Hallmark Channel took up a ninth film, which premiered on October 18, 2015. The production of a tenth film is presently underway.
The collection consists of nine books, beginning with Night Passage (1997) and finishing with Split Image (2010), which Parker finished but did not live to see published before his death in January 2010. Jesse Stone, a very damaged man, was an unusual character for the author. ‘ Jesse is a far more broken man who is coming to grips with himself as he goes along’ Parker said, comparing Stone to Spenser, the protagonist of his first series and the one for which he was best known.
