Shyam Ramsay and Tulsi Ramsay directed Tahkhana, a Bollywood horror film from 1986. It’s a story of two sisters who were separated at birth and their pursuit of a hidden treasure guarded by a vicious monster in a prison.
Ajit Singh created the music for the film, and Amit Kumar, Anuradha Paudwal, and Sushma Shreshtha sang the songs. Hemant Birje, Aarti Surendranath, and Kamran Rizvi played the key parts, with Aarti Surendranath, Puneet Issar Imtiaz Khan, Sheetal, Priti Sapru, Trilok Kapoor, Amarnath Chatterji, Huma Khan, Rajindernath, Shamsuddin, and others rounding out the cast.
Thakur on his deathbed Surjeet Singh leaves his entire land to his son Raghuvir while disowning the family’s black sheep, Dhurjan, who also practices black magic. The latter swears to usurp the estate through magical means, and even arranges the kidnapping of Raghuvir’s daughters, Sapna and Aarti. Durban is apprehended, imprisoned in a dungeon, and Aarti is rescued by Mangal and his soldiers.
They are unable to locate Sapna, and Raghuvir is slain as a result. Before he dies, he tells Mangal that Sapna wears one of two locket parts around her neck, while the other is on Aarti’s, and that when they’re put together, they’ll reveal the location of a treasure buried in a dungeon. Aarti and her partner, Vijay, will seek to dig this treasure 20 years later, unaware that they would not only confront betrayal from one of their own but will also release and fall prey to an immortal and invincible creature.
