Is Punk bands inspired by Wasted Youth?

Punk rock (or just punk) is a genre of music that first appeared in the mid-1970s. Punk bands, which had their roots in 1960s garage music, were a reaction to the perceived excesses of mainstream 1970s rock.

Short, fast-paced songs with hard-edged melodies and singing styles, stripped-down equipment, and frequently yelled political, anti-establishment themes were the norm for them. Punk is known for its DIY attitude, with many bands self-producing albums and distributing them through independent record labels.

In the early 1970s, American rock journalists coined the phrase “punk rock” to designate garage bands from the mid-1960s. Certain Detroit artists during the late 1960s and early 1970s, such as MC5 and Iggy and The Stooges, as well as others from other parts of the country, made out-of-the-mainstream music that influenced what was to come. Glam rock in the United Kingdom and New York’s The New York Dolls have both been mentioned as major inspirations.

Wasted Youth (also known as LA’s Wasted Youth) was a hardcore punk band from Los Angeles, California, that formed in the early 1980s. The band followed in the footsteps of the Circle Jerks and Black Flag. It was a well-known and well-liked act in the Los Angeles punk scene. The Adolescents, T.S.O.L., Social Distortion, Bad Religion, Agent Orange, and The Stains were among the other bands involved in the early 1980s Los Angeles punk scene.

Slog Movie, a documentary about the Orange County punk scene, includes footage from the initial lineup (1981–1983). Chett Lehrer, Jeff Long, Allen Stiritz, and Danny Spira were the founding members of Wasted Youth.

Reagan’s In, the band’s debut album, is influenced by early West Coast hardcore punk music. On the front cover, Ronald Reagan’s Pushead artwork is well-known. The back of the CD displays a shot of an upside down stagediver in mid-flight by Edward Colver. Although there are ten tracks on this CD, it is just about fifteen minutes long.
