In 2010, Sangeeta Bijlani and Azharuddin parted their ways. ‘The lady could be everything perfect and the man could still stray,’ she was quoted as saying in an interview about marriage and relationships. The ancient adage ‘keep your husband happy so he won’t stray’ places much too much responsibility on a woman’s shoulders.
Sangeeta Bijlani, an Indian former Bollywood actress and Miss India winner in 1980, was born on July 9, 1962. She made her Bollywood debut in 1988 with the film Qatil and was one of the three female leads in the film Tridev (1989).
Sangeeta was born in Bombay and began her modeling career when she was 16 years old. She went on to do a number more commercials, including Nirma and Pond’s soap commercials. Sangeeta earned the nickname ‘Bijli’ during her modeling days.
In 1980, Bijlani has crowned Miss India Universe. She competed in the Miss Universe pageant in Seoul, South Korea, and won the Best National Costume award, which her mother, Poonam Bijlani, designed.
Bijlani made her Bollywood debut in 1987 with the film Qatil, in which she starred alongside Aditya Pancholi, and went on to star in films such as Tridev, Hathyar, Jurm, Yodha, Yugandhar, Izzat, and Lakshman Rekha. She starred opposite Vishnu Vardhan in a multilingual film in Hindi and Kannada. Jurm, which she co-starred in with Vinod Khanna and was directed by Mahesh Bhatt and authored by Salim Khan, earned her a Filmfare Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Mahesh Bhatt, Mukul Anand, J.P. Dutta, Rahul Rawail, and N. Chandra are among her other collaborators.
