Actor Junaid Khan, who made his acting debut with Maharaj last year, recently shared his personal journey of battling dyslexia, a learning disorder that was diagnosed when he was just six years old. In an exclusive interview with journalist Vicky Lalwani, Junaid opened up about how his parents, superstar Aamir Khan and his first wife Reena Dutta, discovered his condition after hearing the script of Taare Zameen Par — a film that poignantly depicts the struggles of a dyslexic child.
Recalling the pivotal moment, Junaid revealed, “Actually, I think it was a little bit the other way around. When they heard the script of Taare Zameen Par, they were like, ‘Ek second… We have seen this in our lives.’ And actually, it was at that point that they took me to a specialist and I was diagnosed with dyslexia.”
The young actor credited his parents for their unwavering support throughout his school years. “My parents were very understanding and never put pressure on me to perform academically,” he shared, adding that their focus was on his well-being rather than grades.
